Prayer shawls...made for centuries, are symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, and give solace.
Care and the love of knitting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need. The knitter prays for the recipient of the shawl throughout the knitting. The blessing is rippled from person to person, with both the giver and the recipient experiencing the embrace of a sheltering God.
The Prayer Shawl knitting group was started in January of 2008. Since our beginning, we have given away 28 prayer shawls and have had 22 knitters contributing to this ministry. Anyone who knits or would like to learn to knit is welcome to join.
Join us on Friday mornings at 10 in the church commons to knit and fellowship and pray.

Prayer of Blessing…. May God’s grace be upon this shawl… warming, comforting, enfolding and embracing. May this mantle be a safe haven, a sacred place of security. May the one who receives it, be cradled in hope, kept in joy, and graced with God’s peace.
