Several new books have been donated just in time for winter reading--
Let’s Cook --Everything from chicken to brownies to casseroles for a 9 X 13 pan. This was given in memory of Grace Porter by Nancy and Gib Stanek. It’s called The Pan That Can!
Pauline Ruebel has given us the book, Dewey, the story of a small town library cat from Spencer, Iowa.
Another gift...from Nan Brown will touch your soul all the way to your feet, in a true story of a modern day slave and an international art dealer and wife. It is entitled same kind of different as me.
Other gifts are: Halfway to Forever, Where Yesterday Lives, and a Moment of Weakness, all by Karen Kingsbury and given by Jill Cook.
Another gift from Jill Cook is entitled The Heart Reader. The author remains anonymous, but I think I have a good clue to his identity. You can read and decide for yourself. Be prepared. It deals with sharing your faith.
And for children and their parents, we have received five fun message bearing books. Two of them are: Every Friday by Dan Yaccarino. It’s about togetherness. Hurry Up and Slow Down is by Layn Marlow. It’s a good reminder for the “hurriers” and the “late to rise.” Wee Little Chick is another special story for 2-4 year olds written by Lauren Thompson. She wrote the Little Quack stories that the children love and we also have Little Quack’s Friend. How great is that!!
Lastly, we received a beautiful book by Lisa McCue, entitled Quiet Bunny. It is a special book that incorporates sounds and listening. Come to think of it—all these children’s books are ideal for long snowy days and special times for stories—which is any time.
Keep reading. What joy! --Ilene Magruder Student Ministries
